From Mar. 8 to 9, Mr. Han Zhen, Chairman of the University Council of BFSU, led a delegation to visit the Republic of Korea (ROK) and attended the Presidential Forum for Universities of Foreign Studies in Asia. The Forum was hosted by Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) and attended by presidents and vice presidents of 11 foreign studies universities from 6 countries, including ROK, China, Japan, Vietnam, Mongolia and Uzbekistan.
Mr. Han Zhen shared with the participants BFSU’s mission and future vision, and also proposed ideas about possibilities for cooperation between Asian foreign studies universities in the field of disciplinary development, strategies for less commonly used languages, building up of a general education system and international cultural exchanges.
The participants discussed the present state and future visions of foreign studies univsersities in different countries and reached a consensus on the promotion of joint cooperation. An agreement was signed at the end of the Forum to declare the establishment of a consortium for foreign studies universities in Asia.
During his stay in ROK, Mr. Han Zhen also visited the Confucius Institute at HUFS and met with its Chinese director, teachers and volunteers.
