TUFTS UNIVERSITY TO HELP BFSU STRENGTHEN GLOBAL LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

Vice Principal Nirmala Rao of the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) at University of London and Director Sherman Teichman of the Institute for Global Leadership at Tufts visited Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) on October 28 and 29 and met with the university leaders Peng Long and Yan Guohua.

BFSU President Peng Long talked to the guests on the afternoon of October 28 about the university, the language programs, and the training of non-common language teachers. He mentioned that the years of cooperation with the SOAS had yielded fruits, especially the international cooperation project of producing researchers studying Asia & Africa. He hoped that the partnership would continue and expand so as to train more qualified professionals and teachers.

Mr. Rao said the BFSU was an important partner of the SOAS and believed that there would be more high-level cooperation projects in future. He also welcomed the BFSU to the Consortium for Asian and African Studies (CAAS), which would serve as a platform facilitating academic exchanges and cooperation with overseas institutions. Mr. Teichman briefed the hosts about the Institute for Global Leadership at Tufts and said he would like to help the BFSU to launch a leadership program with his own experience and resources.
