On November 26，Martina Lubyová, Minister of Education, Science, Research and Sport of Slovakia，led a delegation to BFSU. Dušan Bella, Slovakian Ambassador to China, accompanied the delegation. President Yang Dan met with the delegation.
President Yang welcomed the Minister and her delegation, and briefed them about BFSU’s history and mission. He expressed his wish for more support from the Slovakian Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport and the Slovakian Embassy to the Slovakian language program and related studies in BFSU. He also wished for more contribution by BFSU graduates to closer ties between our two countries.
Minister Lubyová said the primary purpose of her visit to China was to sign an agreement with the Chinese Ministry of Education concerning academic degree certification. She believed that the signing of this agreement was particularly important at a time when we celebrated the 70thanniversary of formal diplomatic relations between Slovakia and China this year, and that it would bring about new opportunities for closer bilateral ties in the field of education and people-to-people exchange. Ambassador Bella expressed his wish for stronger cooperation between the Embassy and BFSU in terms of Slovakian language teaching and practice.
Before the meeting, the delegation visited the School of European Languages and Cultures of BFSU, and met with the students from the Slovakian language program. Vice Dean Dong Xixiao briefed the guests about the history of the Program, its faculty and international exchange activities. The students sang Slovakian folk songs, and talked with the guests about their studies, their knowledge about Slovakia and their expectations for China-Slovakia relations.
