From December 4 to 5, the 13th Confucius Institute Conference was held in Chengdu. Chinese Vice Premier Sun Chunlan attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Themed on “Facilitating New Development Through Reform and Innovation, Forging a Brighter Future with Concerted Efforts”, the Conference included 2 themed forums, 8 forums for Chinese and foreign university presidents, and 20 workshops. Over 1 500 people from 154 countries and regions attended the conference. BFSU President Peng Long and Vice President Yan Guohua attended the conference. The opening ceremony was chaired by Mr. Chen Baosheng, China’s Education Minister and Vice Chair of the Council of the Confucius Institute Headquarters.

BFSU was awarded as “Outstanding Confucius Institute Chinese Partner” for the fourth time. Vice Minister of Education Tian Xuejun presented the award to Vice President Yan Guohua. 3 BFSU partner CIs ― Fundacio Institut Confuci de Barcelona, Confucius Institute at Sapienza University of Rome, and Confucius Institute at Nuremberg-Erlangen ― were awarded as “Confucius Institute of the Year”.
