On June 20, H.E. Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education of United Arab Emirates (UAE), paid a visit to BFSU. BFSU Council Chairman Wang Dinghua and Vice President Yan Guohua met with the Minister and his delegation.
Wang welcomed the delegation and expressed his gratitude for the long-term support and assistance to the School of Arabic Studies BFSU from the royal family and government of UAE. Wang briefed the guests about the latest developments in China’s higher education in general and more specifically about BFSU’s history, programs and education model. He spoke highly of the progress achieved by the School of Arabic Studies and the Zayed Arabic and Islamic Research Center in recent years, particularly about what has been achieved by Beijing Sheikh Zayed Research Center Library (the Zayed Library). He expressed his hope for support from the UAE Ministry of Education for closer relations between BFSU and UAE universities and think tanks in an effort to promote the work in the Zayed Library. He invited the Minister to visit BFSU again in 2021 to celebrate the 80th anniversary of BFSU.
Minister Al Hammadi thanked BFSU for her hospitality and spoke highly of the fruitful results of the cooperation in the field of education since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He commended BFSU, the School of Arabic Studies in particular, for contributing to closer cooperation between the two countries in all fields. He also expressed his readiness on behalf of the Ministry of Education to support and facilitate the development of relevant programs in BFSU, and hoped to see closer cooperation in the field of Chinese language teaching, country and area studies, and application of AI technology in order to promote practical cooperation between universities and think tanks from both countries.
Yan welcomed the delegation and briefed them on the development of the Confucius Institute at Zayed University. He invited the Minister to visit the Confucius Institute and offer more support to the institute.
